Domaine Saint-Sébaste was founded in 1954 by Jean-Claude Kuntzer and then taken over by his son, Jean-Pierre, in 1992. The third generation, consisting of Elodie, an oenologist engineer, and Ludovic, a mechanical engineer, are preparing to take over the domaine's destiny and keep it for future generations..
The domaine covers the communes of Cortaillod, Colombier, Hauterive, Saint-Blaise, Cressier and Le Landeron, and includes more than twenty parcels. The domaine is relentless in his pursuit of the very best, whether in terms of ecology or the care taken in maturing his wines. Our pleasure is to mature pure varietal wines, without any blending. Wines which, through their fruitiness, elegance and minerality, reveal the expression of our vineyard's terroir.
Its main grape variety is Pinot Noir, followed by Chasselas and the specialities, made up of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer.
To take things even further, the Domaine has been DEMETER-certified since 2015. Biodynamic viticulture excludes the use of synthetic products; no fertilizers, weed-killers or pesticides are used in the vineyard. All work on the soil to reduce weeds is carried out mechanically or manually, involving more passes, time and effort to obtain the expected results. In the cellar, natural yeasts and indigenous bacteria enhance the wine's complexity, resulting in lower sulfite levels.
